What is flight redemption — and why does it matter?
When you use an Aeroplan, Amex Membership Rewards, or RBC Avion credit card, you accumulate points — sometimes without even realizing it. Those points can be transferred to airline loyalty programs and used to book flights, often at a fraction of the cash price.
Flight redemption is the process of using accumulated points to book award flights — particularly Business or First Class — instead of paying cash. Done correctly, a Business Class seat to Europe that would cost $5,000 CAD in cash can cost as few as 60,000–75,000 Aeroplan points.

Which programs do you work with?
We work with all major Canadian and international loyalty programs — Aeroplan, Amex Membership Rewards, RBC Avion, Flying Blue, British Airways Avios, United MileagePlus, Turkish Miles&Smiles, Marriott Bonvoy, and more. If you have points somewhere, we can assess them.
Do I need to have a specific destination in mind?
Not necessarily. Some clients come with a specific route and timeline. Others come with a general goal — “I want to fly Business Class to Europe sometime in the next 18 months” — and we work backwards from there. Both approaches work.
How far in advance should I book?
Business Class award availability opens at different windows depending on the program and airline — typically between 330 and 355 days in advance for the best availability. We recommend starting the process at least 6 months before your intended travel date, and ideally 9–12 months for long-haul premium routes.
Do you book the flights for me?
No — Le Travelogist is an education and advisory service, not a travel agency. We provide the strategy, the research, and the step-by-step guidance. You make the final booking through the loyalty program directly. This keeps you in control and avoids any agency fees.
What if no award availability exists for my route?
This is addressed directly in every engagement. If availability does not exist at the time of our search, we provide alternative routing options, partner airline alternatives, and guidance on setting alerts — so you are positioned to act the moment availability opens.
